holly jackson, your mind truly must be the most terrifying place to be because to come up with something like this and i LOVE ITTTTTTT. your brain is so beautiful. this was a bigger mind fuck than 'as good as dead' (third good girl's guide to murder book) and i was up until two am finishing this book.

this book makes you feel like you ARE bel because of how frustrated you feel knowing relatively no one believes you but then again the way it leaves you questioning your own instincts. i felt like it was interactive in that sense. does that make sense? i felt like i was living bel's life and trying to fill all the holes myself. also (little, light spoiler) she's kind of a klepto ? and i love her for it because my little sister is the same way (they both take super unimportant things as keepsakes).

i also have to say that i am MAINLY a romance reader but the way holly jackson writes the subtly of romance in a way that you don't even notice it, she doesn't let it overpower the main theme of suspense, thrill and mystery and it never feels out of left field when it is mentioned or unnecessary is so beautiful. this run on sentence definitely didn't make sense but the gist is that i love you holly jackson to infinity an beyond and your brain is beautiful and your craft is very loved by me.

y'all, the way you have NO IDEA where the hell this plot is going and BOY does it take you on a ride. i need you to read this YOU'RE NOT READY (but also i need this to be out already so i can shout about it with other people)

i would just like to say that i love holly jackson's commitment to the idea that men [REDACTED] and women [REDACTED] is so monumentally important to me and part of my lore. thank u goodbye

thank you netgalley and random house + delacorte press for the eArc of this book in exchange for my honest opinion!!
