The Blue Fox by Sjón

2.0

Maybe I’m not intellectual or poetic enough, but I am having a hard time understanding the 4 and 5 stars for this novella. The imagery was beautiful and varying shades of blue and white were dancing in my head as I read, and I will admit that I was captivated at the beginning with the hunting scenes and was really cheering for the blue fox to make it. By the end of the story I felt “okay that was mildly entertaining” and I was left feeling thankful that I wasn’t living in a small village in Iceland in 1883.
