I enjoyed the world building in this book and I think the idea of this beauty and the beastesque start to the franchise is great.  However, I found the main character to be so frustratingly annoying that it was difficult to look past that.  There's stubborn and then there is just dumb!  And I don't feel like she grows throughout the book enough.  That being said, the actual story is highly engaging and overall enjoyable.
