A Shadow Crown by Melissa Blair
4.0

This book did not disappoint! I think this was a great sequel in The Halfling Saga. Things picked up right from the cliffhanger in A Broken Blade, and Keera making her way through finding out she’s been lied to by the people she trusted.

The first half of this was definitely slower paced, as we get a lot of backstory information on multiple characters, and quite a bit of world building as Keera is introduced to new lands, travel, and secret cities. The second half really picks it up though, and by the end we’re completely moving non-stop.

I am absolutely thrilled that I waited to read this until book 3 was already out, because ending on that cliffhanger and then having to wait, I wouldn’t have made it and I would have been messaging Melissa begging her to tell me what comes next!

Once again, I had this on audiobook and Kyla Garcia did another amazing job narrating and switching between characters to keep listeners thoroughly engaged. I bought the physical copy of A Vicious Game because I just couldn’t resist how beautiful the cover is, but I’m not going to lie I may have to finish this series on audiobook regardless because I enjoy Kyla’s narrating that much!!
