Ive rlly wanted to read Deap Flip for a while, and I wasnt disappointed !!! It was fun and eerie and didnt take itself too seriously !! I rlly liked the main characters and I enjoyed the way it flitted between the past timeline when Sam disappeared to our current timeline to contrast the relationship between Maz and Cori then and now, and show the rift that had opened between them, and shows us what happened to Sam back then.

I rlly loved Cori !!! I loved seeing her when she was younger as a horror nerd with two guy best friends and I think it was pretty sad the way the people around her made her believe she had to change who she was and hang out with more girls and suppress the horror nerd side of herself. I loved seeing her as a teen; seeing her a popular girl dating the king of the school, but still secretly being a horror nerd and a queer girl with a crush on her close friend who she couldnt hang around with at school due to her being in a different clique. I rlly enjoyed watching Cori combat her fears and grow into the person she is, especially towards the end at the Halloween dance.

Im also rlly glad that the rift that had opened between Cori and Maz healed and was repaired b/c I loved their friendship sm !!!

I do think it was resolved maybe a little too easily, and I would have liked something extra to happen somewhere between Sam running off and everything being resolved, but I dont hate that it happened that way.

Overall, this was a rlly enjoyable and fun read full of late 80s and 90s vibes, and I would happily read more of Sara Farizan's work!
