Phantasma by Kaylie Smith

This is a really fun fantasy book and it’s a standalone too! I don’t read too many standalone fantasies, so I appreciated that we got it all in one book. I’m excited to read the next one which will feature her sister.

Ever Since reading The Hunger Games and then later Powerless (by Lauren Roberts) I knew I loved fantasy books with games and trials. So, I went into this one with high expectations because I knew it featured those things. While it certainly lived up to my expectations I was shocked as to how brutal it got! I wasn’t expecting that from a romantasy- but I loved it!

Now onto the romance. Was it spicy? YES. Was it believable? Not at first but once you get towards the end it makes more sense. When things started to click together, I had an “ah ha” and “WOAH” moment. I loved it. Sure, it comes off as insta love(ish) because everything takes place within a few days but I def. recommend reading on even if that’s not your favorite!

All in all, I thought this was great and I look forward to reading the next one!
