Forget Me Not by Alyson Derrick

4.0

I’m going to be honest, I was slightly hesitant going into this novel because of the premise. Girl gets amnesia and can’t remember the love of her life? Seen it a dozen times before. However, any concern I had quickly fell away the further I got into the story because I just absolutely adored Nora and Stevie’s relationship. For a YA novel, this book was so incredibly romantic. Watching Stevie fall in love with Nora again was really special and tender, at no point did I ever doubt their romance.

Outside of their rekindled love, I also really appreciated the focus placed on portraying complex family dynamics. How difficult it is to reconcile the harm against the love. What it’s like to be raised in a deeply conservative environment. The strength it takes to seek out a better life, with or without your family. And yes I did start to get wildly emotional at the end of this book.

Overall, this was a solid solo debut and I’m excited to see what future projects Alyson has in store for us!
