You Had Me at Hola by Alexis Daria

Totally loved the diversity representation in this story. The setting was fun and new. I learned a lot of the back stage view of a tv show production. I like the three cousins and their relationship.
Jasmine is a strong woman who keeps falling in love with wrong types of guys to overcompensate for the lack of love from family. I didn't buy into this at all. She is a strong woman and she should have been dealt like that. Instead of showing her as weak in easily falling in love. Ashton is shown as someone with anxiety. This is not what I want from a leading man. I want to learn about his anxiety when he opens up to Jasmine, then we can see why he's so protective about his privacy. The sex scenes with the 'lube' is kind of disturbing. I don't know why. But it just took me away from the moment. And we never understand why he didn't want to have intercourse. So does that mean he's hasn't had sex since he had son?
Ashton's age kept getting mentioned a lot. I was hoping for a age difference story between Jasmine and him. And I didn't get it. He seemed a little desperate for his job. Not confident.
In a romance book I really like my leading man to be strong financially and confident, showing his insecurities only to his leading lady. Being vulnerable to her.
Still, I want more of books like this
