Girls Like Us
by Cristina Alger
This was my first Christina Alger book and before you start yelling at me to read The Banker's List - I DID buy it! Sooooo it's here and ready for me. And I will read it - because I LOVED Girls Like Us... so now I need to read all her books. I bought The Darlings too... lol
Nell is my kind of character. She's pretty bad ass and fearless and I hope we see her again in more of CA's books. When her father passes away, Nell is forced to return to the town she grew up in to deal with his affairs and somehow gets caught up in a murder investigation. A string of grisly murders leads to questioning everything she thought she knew. Somehow, her father might be involved.
The book is fast paced, page turning suspense. I had most of it figured out early on - but the pacing and excitement made up for any lack of shocking surprises. It has a flawlessly executed plot, a storyline and narrative with lots of emotions, a few shocking twists and a main character you grow to love well beyond the ending.
