Suzanne Collin’s is a mastermind and writes in the way that e proves she understands the importance of storytelling and how to use it in its purest form. Fiction is a lens that allows readers to see a world they may be too close or too far to see clearly in reality. She uses her writing to make accessible windows into the real world through fictional means that are engaging and compelling. She crafts her world building meticulously and has such skill that as a reader I feel secure in her capable hands to find the story she’s truly telling. This installment to the hunger games series was no exception and was equal parts entertaining and sobering. The characters are approachable and human in way that tells the author takes her job seriously and respects a readers time and space.
In regards to the plot, this book hurt me in ways I knew it would and surprised me in ways I’d hoped for. The characters were love able which made every page a burden because of the unique experience of knowing their fates before they do. All in all a great book with a great purpose.
