I'm so happy to have finally read a book from Queen Beverly Jenkins! Her writing is as amazing as everyone says it is, and I will absolutely be checking out her backlist.

A Chance at Love is an incredible chosen-family historical romance between a strong, hilarious, bold, brave, unconventional gambler Loreli and hog-farmer and unofficial town veterinary Jake. She is used to living life on her own, making her own money, spending her own money, and going wherever her heart takes her, but she gets saddled down in a small town by Jake's adorable twin nieces who are newly under his care after their mother, his sister, passes away.

I can't even write much about this because I don't want to spoil anything—I went into this blindly and I recommend everyone does the same. I loved how Jenkins wove in feminism and politics with this story because Loreli never becomes a damsel in distress no matter what life threw her way. Once her and Jake stomped bumping heads their love story was really beautiful!
