I was interested to read this because it was a Jane Austen retelling that did not involve Pride & Prejudice. (Not that there's anything wrong with P&P!)However, plot-wise, not much happens. We hear a lot about Elliot's struggles to keep the farm going and how she thinks Kai is treating her unfairly, but nothing much comes from these details until closer to the end. The back story about the world the novel takes place in is really, really confusing. The author gives little bits of information here and there but also keeps referring to things that aren't fully explained. (Or maybe I missed something?) Even after I finished the book, I still didn't fully understand the whole Reduced/Luddite/Post situation.
