this book was really fun and surprising!!
THE LAST CHAPTER??? ARE YOU SERIOUS????
i had a slow start with this book because there’s a lot of world building and lore to get to know while learning about the main characters.
i love Elena so much. she is such a strong character in every sense of the word. she is also soft when it comes to those she loves. i found myself kind of wishing the whole book was from her pov but it was really nice at times to read Leo’s interactions with her from his pov. Same with Yassen’s cuz omg that boy was so in love w her from the beginning.
Yassen is a loverboy that was forced to become a killer to survive. when i tell you i LOOOVEE Yassen Knight….. i mean that.
that’s Elena’s sweet Knight - i know that’s right.
anyway, Yassen was such an interesting character because it’s so obvious that he is caring and kindhearted but the world has given up on him at such a young age, he had no other choice to join the Arohassin and become a well known assassin. he just wants freedom and was willing to do whatever it took to get it.
i’m gonna be honest here… i thought this book was gonna be more about Elena and Yassen with a side of plot but it was literally the opposite. their romance was verrrryyyyyyy slow burn. you know what tho??- i think i appreciated their romance more bc of that. their dialogue was so romantic, it made my stomach have butterflies. there’s a moment when Yassen kisses Elena while telling her he sees her and that just made my heart melt.
I … cannot even begin to talk about Ferma and Leo……i’m still in shock i think. it hurts to think about what Elena went through just in a few days. then at the end she had to leave Yassen- the last person she has. also— SAMSON?????????? HE’S THE PROPHET????? i feel like i should’ve seen that coming but it just never crossed my mind. so like.. he knew?? the whole time?? yeah imma need Elena to kick his ass in book 2
i can’t wait to read book 2!!!!!!!
