Threat Rising by K.J. Kalis

4.0

Travis Bishop just wants a quiet and peaceful life on his ranch in Texas with his horses. Only trouble can't seem to leave him alone. When a man's body is found containing a chip the police approach Travis for assistance. Travis by the way is an ex CIA op.
The next thing, Travis finds a fire burning down his stables and he loses his horse Scarlett which belonged to his wife Tara now deceased.
Travis is on a mission to find out who is behind the fire and why is there cyanide at the end of the capsule tracker in the man's body.
If you love special agent, CIA, black ops boos this is perfect. It is the second in the Travis Bishop series and you can read it as a standalone. Only I would highly recommend you read the first one in the series to get a fuller picture.
What I liked about this book: brilliant writing. Character depth. Fantastic plot. Great pace. Lots of excitement.
What I didn't like about this book: Nothing.
K. J. Kalis is one of my top go to authors and I can highly recommend anything written by Kalis.
The Travis Bishop series is one that I'd recommend to anyone.
If you're looking to dip your toe into this genre then this series is a must-read
