Salt by Colin F. Barnes

4.0

Salt, a non-zombie, post-apocalyptic tale. Follow Eva and Jim as they fight to keep their group of survivors alive in a flooded world and as they struggle to find out who is murdering people on their ships.

I loved the story. It offers a unique setting of survivors trying to live on a flooded Earth. Not only are they dealing with fighting the elements, there is sabotaged equipment, a fanatic religious group, a mystery virus killing people, a murderer, and sharks to contend with. Colin Barnes' writing style captured my attention right away and really drew me into the setting as he built his world and characters.

The only reason it received four stars was because of a contradictory potential relationship: at one point Eva mentions how she would never get in a relationship with a certain character because he reminds her of her controlling ex. Yet the relationship seemed like it was going to happen, despite her remark.

Other than that, Salt is a very gripping tale and I can't wait to read the next one!
