Everything is start to add up and I'm here for it. It's all coming together. The stakes are higher, the lorr is deeper and developments are more exciting.

One of my biggest criticisms for this series is how prominent gender stereotypes are. But occasionally, we do also see characters who defy them. They aren't a majority though, which might bother some (more than it does me).

A trope that is featured in this series that I do love however is how adults don't play big roles in showdowns. Sometimes they are conveniently occupied otherwise. I love that the author knows the kids are the heroes; because they are. We still see many creatures and adults undermine the protagonists, but eventually they realise exactly who they are dealing with.

I'm aware this is a review for a 4th book in a 5 book series, so chances of anyone reading it are slim. If you are reading this and you haven't read the first three books then ???

Anyway. I'm really excited to jump straight into the finale! No one does middle grade like Brandon Mull!
