Book rec: Now is Not the Time to Panic by Kevin Wilson
Wow. This book is beautiful. I borrowed it on audiobook from my library via @libby.app and if you can get your hands on it, it’s worth the wait.
Frankie and Zeke are two kids in a small town, bored over the summer. Frankie is an aspiring author, Zeke aspires to go to art school to draw. On a particularly boring day, they make a poster, just for fun. They want to test the realm of creating art together and making it public. They see the piece as meaningless and good fun, but as their art spreads and causes panic that spreads beyond the borders of their town, it takes on a whole new meaning for them.
This book has plenty of 90s nostalgia, a couple of teenagers in a small town, coming of age, awkward friendship that turns into awkward first love, an examination of the meaning and impact of art. I instantly connected with Frankie and I found myself making extra rounds on my walk to listen for longer.
5 stars, highly recommend!
