This didn't end up being the kind of story that book one promised it would be, but I can't say I didn't still enjoy it. The author wasn't as ruthless with his characters as I expected him to be, which sort of ruined some of the suspense. A lot of things toward the end were rushed and convenient. Still, I'm a sucker for a happy(ish) ending, even if it's not completely deserved. *shrug*
