The Weight of Feathers by Anna-Marie McLemore
3.0
mysterious medium-paced

I have many thoughts about this novel. There were some things I enjoyed but also some moments which felt 'meh'.
Things I liked:
1. The writing : It took me a while to get adjusted to it but, it was whimsical and gave a perfect atmosphere to the book.
2. The family feud : I love 'star-crossed lovers' trope and the rivalry of the Palomas and the Corbeaus in the book gave a good setting for the romance. It is not explained how all the hostility began and that kind of an open thread felt refreshing.
3. Cluck : My heart ached for this boy. At a mere age of 18, the world was too cruel to him.
Things I did not enjoy:
1. The pacing : It was medium paced till the last quarter and then it went too fast and everything felt rushed.
2. The ending : The climax was actually fine but I felt it was rather abrupt.

I will try more of the author's books. The writing leaves me wanting more.
