Really a 4.5, but I got so captivated by parts of the story, I'll suck it up and give it a 5. I loved the flashbacks and historical parts more than the modern day story. I feel that if anything, that was a weak point in the book. Hence the 4.5. What an amazing story though, and you could tell that Geraldine Brooks put in a crazy amount of research.
