Warlight by Michael Ondaatje

3.0

I enjoyed parts of Warlight, but as with Ondaatje novels, he has an imagist's way of telling the story: he'll give you an image, and you commit it to memory. Plot is more fluid and elusive, and that requires more work on the part of the reader. I'm not sure I was in the right mood for it. What was interesting is that this was a book club pick, and when we all got together to discuss it, 8 women had 8 completely different takes on what had happened, causing all of us to dive back into our books to try to piece it together, with one person actually googling to figure out who one of the characters was supposed to be. So... I wasn't the only one who found it a bit of a mystery at times.
