A Little Too Wild by Devney Perry

5.0

“I like this. You at my mercy.”
“Raven, if you think I haven’t been at your mercy from the beginning, then you haven’t been paying attention.”

A Little Too Wild is the third book in the Madigan Mountain series and this is the finale in the trilogy of the Madigan family. And we finally got the superstar of the brother, and young and the most elusive of the brothers. This is the brother that I have been the most excited for, mostly due to the fact that he has the most mystery surrounding him. I will be honest while I enjoyed the first two books this trilogy didn't impress me too much, and I had some lower expectations when I went into this one, but I am telling you I don't know why the narration for this one felt different, but this book completely won my heart! I was instantly drawn into this story, and honestly, as much as I love audiobooks, this was the type of audiobook that I wanted to put everything aside to just listen to it. I breezed so quickly through this one because I just couldn't put this one down.

A Little Too Wild begins with Crew Madigan who is a snowboarding legend and Olympian, he comes back to his hometown, when his brother gets married. Its a trip he is dreading and only planning on one day of it and then returning back to his life in Park City Utah. But what he doesn't count on is meeting his old high school crush, Raven, who also happens to be his best friend's sister. They both decide to take action on their instant attraction and have a one night stand together, and the passion between them ignites. But through a course of events, Crew ends up coming back to Madigan Mountain, and the biggest draw is Raven and a connection to her he can't seem to push aside. As Raven and Crew learn to swim the tide of their relationship together, they will need to decide if their relationship is worth fighting for...

Yes, you’re an escape. You’re also an addiction. A refuge. An adventure. This – us – is not me escaping a reality I don’t want to face. This is me coming to you because it’s the only place I want to be.

There was so many aspects to this story that I truly enjoyed. I had so much fun with these two connecting and seeing them decide to take each other on. There is a mix of tropes in this book and I had so much fun with the winter themes. There is such an atmospheric vibe to the story that is stronger than the first two books combined for me. Even though I am a straigh skiier, I really loved the "Snowboarding" culture that we see and seeing how well these two are matched. The way that Crew encourages Raven in her talent even if she is in her thirties, he wants her to embrace her abilities. I absolutely adored the way in which he ends up fighting for their relationship. I also liked seeing Crew reconnect with his brothers and have some reconciliation with his father, which is much needed. I did enjoy that aspect much more than book two and just felt more satisfying.

SpoilerMy only complaint with the story was the ending. I will be honest I didn't care too much in seeing how Raven starts a snowboarding career, but Crew gives up on his. It just felt so flat and unfulfilling to be honest. Because throughout the whole book its all about him trying to do his best to keep his career together, and I would have liked to see both Crew and Raven embracing the sport as a couple instead of just one of them. It just felt like he was pushed aside in the realm of importance. So this isn't quite a five star read, although its close. If not for the disappointing ending, it would have been a full 5 star.

Overall I found A Little Too Wild to be a delightful story that was so endearing, heartwarming in every chapter, plenty of spice and will deliver on the feels! A SATISFYING FRESH POWDER PACKED ROMANCE!
