Into The Black: Tales of Lovecraftian Terror by William Meikle

5.0

A great variety of Lovecraftian stories. They are all over the place, scientists experimenting, another look at Red Hook, several that take place in Roman times, and even a King Arthur one.

They most definitely have their repetition; black eggs, dancing, and singing appear in just about every one of them. The 'I'm lost in a vast cathedral and I would still be there if not for...' line gets overused too. (The author did this in another collection as well.)

This would have annoyed in other collections maybe but the stories were so good I didn't care in this one. So go enjoy your gross green goo creatures, and Shoggoths, and other dimensions opening up into ours and all the other fun Lovecraftian themes.
