Less Is Lost
by Andrew Sean Greer
Loved, loved, loved it. Laughed aloud just about every time I picked it up, and kept reading excerpts to my husband till he asked me to stop (Oops).
"Know no no." "You could say, at least, that Less is lost. At last." and so many perfect images, references, descriptions, all tossed off easily and almost thoughtlessly, except that it all coheres.
And stings: "America, how's your marriage? Your two-hundred-fifty-year-old promise to stay together in sickness and in health?. . ." (233) OUCH!
Wow. I read the library copy, but I think I may buy my own (hardback, even!) to keep.
Start with Less and then read Less is Lost. Especially good on those nights when the antics of the fifth grader in charge of our country keep you up. . .
