An in-depth and earnest biography that Plath deserves. My one criticism is Clark’s reference to the Birthday Letter poems with little reference to the criticism that Hughes used BL to absolve himself of any abuse towards Plath. I understand Clark’s choice, considering that Hughes never really wrote about their marriage until the poems.
