The Snowman by Jo Nesbø
5.0
Read as a result of seeing his work on the BBC Four documentary, 'Nordic Noir'.
Definitely a new favourite! A complex and bizarre whodunit, extremely gruesome at some points. I was sure I had solved it at three different times, and was proved wrong each time.
The climax is extraordinary and, although part of it requires the reader to suspend more than the average amount of disbelief, tautly written with excellent pace.
He's also very good at a sense of place, especially regarding the differences between Oslo and Bergen, which I had no idea existed.
