Some Kind of Fairy Tale
by Graham Joyce
Twenty years in the past, Tara disappeared in the Outwoods without a trace. Though the police strongly suspected her boyfriend, Richie, had something to do with this disappearance, they were unable to make anything stick and everyone somewhat moves on with their lives. That is until Tara reappears, claiming that she's been with the fairies for only six months.
The story is told from multiple points of view, both skeptical of Tara's fairy story and some surprising believers. It was also clearly a guy's story, more than a woman's story, despite the "fairy" references. It was pretty crude, and rather unapologetic about it.
The only part that I honestly disliked was that the characters weren't very likeable. But honestly the open-endedness of the story really almost made up for that!
