Night Embrace by Sherrilyn Kenyon
3.0

Hmm...after reading infinity I decided to get into this series. I read Julains book first and then got this one. I have to say I liked it but I didnt love it

After reading a lot of paranormal romance I have to say Im kinda getting used to the layout of these books go. Immortal, tortured, leather clad man seeks end of boring existance but then meets some gorgeous nubile hottie and after severaL complications they get a HEA. The main unique point of these books is the interferance from the Gods of all the ancient civilisations. I really enjoyed all these Gods and their individual powers and focuses. Saying that I was always a sucker for Xena warrior princess for the same reason.

Anyway Talon was hot but a bit dull for me to be fair. Yes he had a bit of a torturous past but the fact that he had spent the remainder of his existance whoring around New Orleans didnt really make me feel sorry for him to be honest. I was much more taken with Zarek and am DYING to read that one. As for Sunshine she seemed a little too split personality for me. At some points I actually like the woman. She was determined to get what she wanted, but not so much that she would sacrifice her beliefs for it or play second fiddle to any other dead wife. She was funny and at the same time sweet. She was, at some points, the pefect lead woman charcter because she wasnt a simpering idiot or a snipey Bitch. Unfortuantelely at certain points of the book I almost hoped she got ran over by a bus. She was a hippy chick with no memory or sense. To me the the two seemed like completely different charcters but luckily the good one appeared more than the bad one. Their story was sweet and did a good job of introducing some of the other characters and the mythology of Kenyons world.

Overall a nice read but not enough grit for me to class as a must-read. Now onto Zarek!
