Blindsight by Peter Watts

This was not the easiest book to read but it was WORTH IT. The slow integration of the reader into the world pays off in a big way for some of the most gripping scifi I've read in a while. With so much of the explainer-text being built into conversations between characters, I was not expecting such compelling character building to be woven throughout, but the interpersonal conversations and deliberations shone through as some of the brightest spots in a really fantastic book.
