The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Annie Barrows, Mary Ann Shaffer

5.0

At first I wasn’t sure how I would feel about the letter style narration of this book. I’d seen the movie first (which I enjoyed but soon learned how superior the book is), so I wasn’t sure how it would work. Sometimes journal or letter formats in books get gimmicky, but the authors weaved the characters together so well that their correspondences made sense and weren’t just a way to tell you the plot. Overall, this book was lovely and sad at the same time, but ultimately satisfying and fluffy. Just what I needed.
