Book 208: The Arab of the Future: A Childhood in the Middle East, 1978-1984 by Riad Sattouf

Have seen this graphic novel memoir recommended in a few places. Finally got it from the library. There are a few other volumes, will get back to the series in November for #nonfictionnovember.

Synopsis: The Arab of the Future, the #1 French best-seller, tells the unforgettable story of Riad Sattouf's childhood, spent in the shadows of 3 dictators—Muammar Gaddafi, Hafez al-Assad, and his father. Brimming with life and dark humor, The Arab of the Future reveals the truth and texture of one eccentric family in an absurd Middle East.

Review: There was definitely some humor in this book, and in some places you have to laugh at the absurdity of some of the author’s life. It took me some time to get into this one, by the time I did the book was over. Will definitely check out the next book, my rating 3.5⭐️.
