I liked how both the main characters were competent in their own right, but I felt like there wasn't enough time given for them to fully explore their dynamic and relationship with each other after the reveal.

They only meet once after the reveal and then never see each other for a year. Then Requiem comes back, confesses and they both go off on holiday together. The book ends like this. Requiem's change of heart happens mostly off screen, which is... not good. I wish we could have gotten more scenes of them actually being together.

I'm not a big fan of pet names, especially demeaning ones. I suppose it kind of goes from demeaning to affectionate in the end, but it still rubs me the wrong way.

Maybe I'm just not cut out for the romance genre. :(
