None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell

2.0

This is a hard one to rate. I enjoyed the writing and pacing, and I kept wanting to read more. But.

I just hate stories about women who lie about abuse. About doubting claims of abuse. I knew it was coming way before it was revealed, and I kept hoping it wouldn't come. Welp. That already brought the rating down hard.

And then this book did even worse. It portrayed a 16-year-old girl as a predator, maliciously seducing a 43-year-old man, who's then portrayed as a victim of manipulation. Like he isn't a pedophile because she initiated the relationship. I'm sorry but if you can't say no to a TEENAGER you're still a pedophile!! She was literally still a child!

Anyway yeah. The writing was enjoyable, but I couldn't stomach these themes. Could've been good if it'd relied on something else than these plot twists.
