This had a super interesting concept. But I think this story would have worked better as a movie. I could see the vision but I don’t think it translated as well on paper (compared to what it could have been on screen). 

Also, the title of the book was “When Haru Was Here” but you could have taken Haru out of the story and still have an impact. I don’t think Haru was doing much for the story. I think the main part was Eric grieving the death of his best friend. Like you could have taken out all of Haru’s scenes and assigned them to the best friend (Dylan) instead and it would have been a more cohesive story. Like it would have been more interesting if he had been having visions of his best friend instead of this random guy he met a year ago.
