Property Of
by Cp Smith
I've become a bit of a C.P Smith fan, and after only two books! My reaction to 'Property Of' and [b:A Reason to Breathe|20334863|A Reason to Breathe (Reason, #1)|C.P. Smith|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1444245510s/20334863.jpg|28222949]A Reason to Breath was very similar in that I found my self needing to put the book down and do something else for a few minutes so that I could process what was going on.
The humor was there, Nicola is a one woman comedy show without even trying. The way she see's the world, or better yet when she gets her version of writers block which rather than not having anything to write she instead gets caught up in her head with ideas and 'blocks' out the world. There are points in the book where the font changes to italic, I really enjoyed these parts because they were Nicola describing what had happened only she goes into writer's mode and while the facts are there the details become more colorful.
Suspense, YES. You get flashes through the whole book of the killers POV. Not only that but when people close to Nicola and her friends are killed it just puts you that much more on edge. I was a little disappointed when none of the girls put two and two together and thought to let the police know about the 'Dark Prince' who they had been messaging. Yes it could have just been a coincidence but if I knew someone on the force and I got weird vibes then girls around me ended up dead... yeah I would at least mention it.
I think my favorite scene from the book was when Nicola calls Dallas's partner (Bill?) instead of calling 911. Close second would be all the times that Nicola ends up bumping in and spilling things on Dallas, coffee, soda, pizza, brownie batter. Even better is that she never seemed to get any of the spilled items on her!
Lot's of twists in this book and I know that it's a stand alone but I would really like to read about the FBI agent Parker and hopefully him catching his own killer.
4 Stars!
