Oedipus Rex by Sophocles
5.0
What is so brilliant about Sophocles's adaptation of Oedipus Rex is that he choses to focus on Oedipus's anagnorisis rather than the act that makes up most versions of this play. It dives into fate and free will, light and darkness, ignorance and truth, and ultimately questions the foundation that humankind bases its knowledge of self-identity upon. How do we define ourselves? It's shocking how quickly this base can be shaken.
