alantie 's review for:
Anne of Windy Poplars
by L.M. Montgomery
Of the books since the original, this is probably my favorite thus far. It feels the closest in spirit I think.
I rather adored Anne building the relationship with Elizabeth, her little neighbor, and how she encourages her to dream and be imaginative and believe in magic. I just really have a lot of feelings over that relationship. Which made me all the sadder when they part, though it was great to see how much Anne changed her life for the better.
A lot of the situations and characters were just enjoyable all around, and there was just a great feel to this installment that I've felt was lacking in AoA and AotI. I rather like the bits of Anne's letters to Gilbert, it gave things a much more personal flare. I enjoyed watching Anne win over the people and be her lovely ray of sunshine self, her kindness and uniqueness paving the way.
Definitely my second favorite in the series.
