I really enjoyed the writing style overall and although most of the events can be predictable outside of the history it all fit together well. I was also surprised because it leaves a very open end for some of the characters, so there’s definitely some potential for a sequel that ties into other historical events.
As for the magic, it was the main thing that disappointed me about the book. I’d heard a couple of people raving about how different it was, and although interesting to read, I think I might’ve been more satisfied if there were just way more details. The broad strokes of it just left me with so many questions.
Very solid retelling of the legend, with a lot of creativity and heart. Would’ve liked to see more of a relationship with her other two sisters, but then again there was a lot already going on in the book. Would recommend for a romance historical fiction!
