Overview: Julian Lopez is a successful owner of a luxury construction company that resides in his hometown of Lake Wisteria. Nothing can usually faze him but if there is anyone who can ruffle Julian’s feathers, it would be Dahlia Munoz. He plans on avoiding her while she is in town but Julian’s mother forces him to help Dahlia get back on her feet. He chooses to go through with the plan to get Dahlia to leave town again. What he doesn’t account for, is whether he wants her to go.
Dahlia Munoz is a successful interior designer who returns to her hometown of Lake Wisteria when her engagement goes awry, and she needs some space to recover. Upon her return to her hometown, she is reunited with Julian Lopez, childhood rival and family frenemy. Avoiding him becomes difficult when he offers her a deal she can’t resist – renovate a historic house together to return a profit. It’s the perfect distraction to her personal life but can she create a temporary truce with Julian without wanting to rip each other’s throats out? And when she’s faced with years of built-up emotions finally spilling, will she able to guard her heart from Julian?
Review: I absolutely loved this book. Both Dahlia and Julian were enjoyable characters as well as both of their families. I loved that the book included stereotypical Latino family styles as well as had some Spanish thrown in there as well. The banter between the MCs was great and had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Not only were the characters lovable but the storyline was amazing as well. Both main characters were dealing with traumas that are very relatable and the development of both characters throughout the story was done very well. Lauren Asher also does a great job of making us love the side characters as well. I hope in the future we get to see Rafa’s story unfold. The spice in the book was *chefs kiss* and didn’t take away from the story at all. I highly recommend this book!
