The Yearbook is a YA coming-of-age story that follows Paige, a quiet year 11 student who works for the school newspaper. Paige’s school is a minefield of gossip and bullying disguised in the form of ‘joking’ and ‘pranks’. When Paige comes across annotations scribbled in red pen in books from the library, she begins her own little investigation to find out who this mysterious ‘Red Pen’ is. Along with Red Pen, Paige starts a journey on discovering her true self and how to stand up to those who try to hurt people.

KEY POINTS:
* multiple subjects risen such as bullying, anxiety, parental abuse, the mental heath of children and the school system
* written realistically - my school had a lot of people that were similar to the people in this book!
* is a great way for readers in school to see how in the grand scheme of things, what people think about you doesn't matter and you shouldn't let their irrelevant opinions define you
* some really great character development - it was really satisfying to see Paige transforming and standing up for herself
* the story flowed and developed at a realistic and natural pace
* I really liked the romance aspect - I actually found it super cute!

Overall, I came away with some great things from this book! It’s helped me to feel more confident in myself and my thoughts. No one gets to define me. No one’s opinions matter apart from the opinions of those that I love. And I can choose to listen to whoever I want to. No one can hurt me if I don’t give them the power to. Even reading as an adult, I feel as though this book has taught me lots, and that’s what a great book does!
