For Ripped Bodice's Fantasy Romance Book Club. Lachlan never redeems himself enough for me to sympathize with him. I disliked the description of Emma's height and weight (5'4" 105 lb) and hated that she is simultaneously tiny and delicate and fragile but then somehow becomes an elite warrior who can take down vampires with no practice or training. I almost put the book down when Lachlan said that Emma had a clever, complicated mind because she never once demonstrates this. She's reacting to events that happen as they happen and never shows any kind of planning or foresight. They don't share any significant moments outside of gift-giving and sex. My summary: if Stephanie Meyer wasn't a Mormon.
