Bought this from a book reselling booth during a school fair. I thought I'd give medical crime thrillers a try since I've had bad luck liking said genre in tv or film, so perhaps reading it would make me like it. But sure enough, i still did not enjoy it.
Though I do not enjoy this genre as a form of entertainment, it wasn't that that influenced the low rating I ga r the book, rather it was the writing style that I could not make myself to like. So many "Oh how stupid, I thought" or "Oh what a bummer" or things of the sort statements that became progressively ankoying each time I saw them on a page. Oh Oh Oh how bad.
Furthermore, there is a substantial amount of weird comments toward weight. Phrases like "a fat butcher" being aimed at a doctor just seemed borderline offensive despite the context of this in the book; that statement wasn't even the worst of them. Perhaps I forgot the exact words to those due to how much my brain didn't like reading them.
Nonetheless, I can see why people might like this book. With the amount of plot that I've read, the build up was good. It was tense and we were able to get to know the characters as they navigated this mystery. It had potential, but it didn't give more for me to be curious enogh to want to know how the story plays out until the end.
