From reading the synopsis, you think you'd be prepared for the emotional devastation of this book and YET! I loved the fantastical elements of the story: the grim reaper aspect was done fairly well, the cast of grim reapers was interesting and unique. The relationship between Ash and Poppy was definitely the hallmark of the story; their romance was mushy and sweet, all the more devastating when Ash falls victim to a car accident! I'm disappointed that Ash's previously life completely becomes irrelevant after her death, singularly focusing on Poppy (personally would've LOVED to see a snippet into what happened with her family and her best friend honesty! The side tangent with her dad not knowing she was queer felt so useless to the plot if its never addressed ever again?). But overall, the writing was compelling and the characters were enjoyable, I'd read more from Tanya Bryne for sure!
