The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith
5.0
"Mma Ramotswe nodded her head gently. Masculine bad behaviour."
A warm story about family, tradition, moral and Africa. And basically, how stupid men can be.
I devoured this book. It's been on my shelves forever, and I have no idea why I haven't picked it up sooner. Mma Ramotswe is absolutely wonderful, and the story has a good balance between pretty easy going mysteries, Ramotswe's life and the everyday life and traditions of Botswana. It's maybe not the most well-crafted piece of literature ever written, but it made me smile and laugh and cry, and really, what more do you need from a story?
Also still not over the fact that this was written by an old white man.
