Happiness for Beginners by Katherine Center

Newly divorced at thirty-two, Helen’s life has fallen apart beyond her ability to put it together again. So when her annoying younger brother, Duncan, convinces her to sign up for a hardcore wilderness survival course in the backwoods of Wyoming―she hopes it'll be exactly what she needs. Instead, it's a disaster.

First and foremost this book had me laughing and I loved that. The banter between Helen and Jake on their road trip really had me grinning and giggling. Once they arrived at the survival course the humor died off a bit, but it still kept me engaged and I enjoyed the dynamics and wanted to see what would happen. There is an age gap romance subplot (she’s 10 years older) but it’s much more focused on her and changing the course of her life. There were 2 instances that I wholeheartedly believe realistically would not and should not happen but I was able to look past those glaringly obvious errors and not let it affect my reading experience.

Now I can’t wait to watch the adaptation!
