This was a really conflicting one for me because in some ways I think this was a very well crafted novel - the characters felt fleshed out and the world was interesting- but in other ways it fell flat. Most of my issues were with the pacing and the plot itself, I just kept waiting for something to happen. The second half was a lot better than the first but for a 450 page book, pretty much nothing happened in the first 300 pages.
However, as previously mentioned I liked the characters. I enjoyed Galina and Vasilisa's relationship specifically and I thought Katya was a really interesting character. Sera and Vitaly were both fine but their plot didn't engage me as much.
I think it maybe suffered from having so many POV's because it felt like just as something interesting started to happen, the POV would change.
But overall, this wasn't a bad book, I enjoyed myself reading it and I think the writing felt well developed.
