What I Carry by Jennifer Longo

Whoa. Really, whoa. 5 ⭐

What a beautiful, insightful, edifying view into the foster system through some incredible characters. I really, really appreciated the perspectives from the main characters and how they talked through hard things. They taught me new things. And I appreciated how they addressed misconceptions, unhelpful stereotypes along with the realities of the system. Gosh, I just loved Francine. I want to be like her in so many ways.

The author's note at the end was the cherry on top: this book is fiction but woven from so many real stories. Every journey is different and I have so much more to learn.
