The Bullet Swallower by Elizabeth Gonzalez James
5.0
Thank you Simon & Schuster and the author!
Absolutely floored with how much I loved this book! Magical realism is one of my favorites and this didn’t disappoint AT ALL. Shoving it full of western-ized Odyssey vibes and a story based loosely off our authors ancestors. They’ve completely reimagined what it is to be a book classified as this one is. We touch on very real topics and I loved that they were continuous themes throughout. The colonialism and racism being a very important part. While this book was short I think it did everything it was hoping to do and more! I think my only complaint is I would have liked to read more I think! If you want unique character adventure and a quest for family this is definitely for you!
