The Drawing of the Three by Stephen King

3.0

The second novel in the Dark Tower series doesn't really provide much more information about Roland beyond the fragmentary pieces we got from the first novel, but it does provide a bit more information about him and his new companions. Unfortunately, the Stephen King who has long had a knack for characters isn't entirely present here - Eddie and O/Detta are more 2-dimensional than three, and Roland is still largely a cipher. Jack Mort barely gets to do anything other than serve as a pocket guide to NYC. Overall, the book moves along ok, and reaches a relatively satisfying conclusion, but it's awfully thin at times. Fairly well-written, but about what in the end? Honestly, I;m not quite sure.
