Travel Light, Move Fast by Alexandra Fuller
5.0
This book is a beautiful tribute to Alexandra Fuller's family and African childhood. Like all of her writing, it is both humorous and heartbreaking, drawing on her unconventional upbringing as both a source of strength and strife. Fuller's father looms large in this book, like many of the others, and you can feel the impact he had on his family in so many ways. Do yourself a favor and at least read "Don't Let's go to the Dogs Tonight" if not all of Fuller's memoirs before this one, because a good picture of her childhood will make this story all the more meaningful. The end of this one knocked the wind out of me, and Fuller's ability to not only endure these losses, but to write about them so personally reminds me why I wait anxiously to see her name on the new release shelf.
